The proof of concept for the compressor came when a production prototype was purchased by the Southern California Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) and was installed in a Calabasas, CA Chevron station. It has provided compressed natural gas for vehicles 24 hours a day without interruption since July 2003.

This compressor qualifies as a proof of concept because it has been producing more compressed gas than required by its specifications and operated without maintenance for over 12 months. It has since been taken out of service due to lack of demand.
